The transistorised Minix MR-73 and its successor MR-73B were manufactured in Japan and imported into the German-speaking countries by Richter & Co. Thanks to its price-performance ratio, it was a popular entry-level receiver.

===== Operation =====
The Minix MR-73B is a simple world band receiver built into a simple sheet metal housing, it weighs 6.5 kg.

The front panel is dominated by two dial windows, on the left is the band spread dial for the amateur radio bands, on the right is the dial for the non-spread "general coverage" ranges. For tuning in the spread bands, the right dial must be set to the corresponding dial mark, a letter in a circle. In the middle between the frequency dials the S-meter is located.

In the bottom row of controls, from the left you find the headphone jack and the power switch. It is used to turn on the receiver, **AM** is selected for the reception of normal amplitude modulated transmissions, with **AM-ANL** the noise limiter is activated, with **SSB CW** the [[BFO]] for the reception of [[CW]] and single sideband transmissions is turned on. The BFO control is located in the upper left corner of the front panel.

In the centre is the tuning knob, the outer ring operates the main tuning, the inner ring the band spread dial.

To the right is the band switch, band A (0.55-1.6 MHz) covers mediumwave, bands B - D (1.6 - 4.5 / 4.5 - 12 / 12 - 30 MHz) cover shortwaves. On the far right is the antenna matching control, the volume control **AF Gain** and above it the radio frequency gain **ANT GAIN**.
